To give you a little bit of background behind me and my friend Treasure, we first met in Sydney, Australia in 2017. We lived in a hostel together for almost 6 months and grew really close during this time (when living in a tiny hostel, you soon get to know everyone who is living there long-term). We were part of a large, but tight-knit group, and always had time for one another. That’s one thing that I like most about T, she makes the time to get to know people, and whilst doing that, she actually gives a crap about what you’re telling her. She’s the kind of person that takes an interest and actually listens to you, unlike a lot of others.
When you’re a traveller you often listen to people’s stories, but don’t really take in the information, as the chances are, that person will be gone in a week or 2, so there's not much point (to put it bluntly). Treasure just isn’t like that, she cares, and it’s one of the reasons I love her dearly!
It was funny sitting down to talk to T, due to living at other ends of the country with the contribution of Covid, the interview took place over Facetime. When I asked if she had ever been interviewed before the first thing she said was "am I gonna get the job?" which completely broke the ice. To tell the truth I was a little nervous about the interview as I had never done anything like it before, so she put me at total ease by cracking the joke!

If you have Treasure on social media, you’ll soon learn that she’s all about self positivity and in person she just bursts with self confidence and self love. This is something that lot of people struggle with, me included, even though we’re often told it’s vital to have. I asked Treasure if this is something she's always felt or if it was something she had to work on personally. She told me that she has always had self awareness and thought of herself as a trend setter when younger, this made her grow in confidence and soon after she was boosting others up too! We discussed how important it is to spread good vibes to people close to you, as this will also affect your well-being and your circle will bounce good feelings off of each other. We started to discuss people that we met in Sydney and spoke about language barriers, being in such a popular country to travel through, means there are many people from all over the world! Treasure made sure to give people the time to discuss in conversation, even if there was a language barrier and it took longer than usual. It's one thing she prides herself on, giving people time. This is something she learnt from her Mum, as English is her 2nd language she had first hand experience of people not giving her their time, therefore this has been ingrained into Treasure. She goes on to say that you need to have patience when talking to others, and in her own words "you can't just write people off".

Treasures family play a massive part in her morals and confidence, having 10 siblings has taught her a lot! Being the youngest on her Mums side, she was heavily influenced by her older siblings on how to act and to strive for what you want. Her sisters taught her to present herself well to others, have confidence and good morals, whilst her brothers taught her all about sports and how to stay strong physically and mentally. Being the youngest sibling in the household, and having the natural hierarchy of oldest to youngest, Treasure was often bossed about at home (in typical family fashion) and so didn't have much of a voice. When she got to school, she made damn well sure she had one and didn't stand for sh*t!
One thing I found really interesting was Treasures school life. Originally starting at a state school in Fulham, not far from the council estate where she lived, she was really advanced in her class, and actually so bright that they encouraged her to go to a private school. She said the change was immense, and the pressure was on! Luckily this wasn't an issue for Treasure, as her Mum always taught her to strive for the best, and that's what she did.
After leaving college at 19, with a sports scholarship in one hand, and an application for a Law Degree in the other, T put brakes on and decided to take a gap year. Almost by accident, she found herself working with a family friend in construction where she learnt the tricks of the trade and ended up running their company 'Treasure & Truelove'. (How fabulous is that name?!) After a few years of working in construction she decided to give Australia a go, and this is when she met me!
We had a little reminiscent session, which I love doing with all my travel friends! We spoke about the practical fashion you abide by when travelling as there's limited space you can fit into your suitcase! I asked T what kind of clothes she wears whilst not travelling, and she said her Pleinsur yoga pants with a crop jumper would be the ideal outfit to wear for a coffee date. She went on to say she has a mixture of fast fashion and timeless items in her wardrobe, but her favourite items are by far the timeless ones. For example, her Burberry Mac and Levi Jeans are things she will always wear as they're iconic.

The last question I had for Treasure was "tell me something you're passionate about?"
She has a strong passion for helping others, in many different different ways. Hoping to have a law degree some day, she wants to help people that don't have a voice. Another dream of hers would be to run a school or orphanage where she can give a good education to a vast group of people who deserve a chance in life, this dream was inspired by her brothers former form tutor who is now the only woman in Africa to provide free education to years 4-18. T believes that just HAVING a fair chance at education, no matter what circumstances, can help to shape the way you think and impact your future.
I truly find Treasure such an influential person who makes an impact on everyone she meets. Her positive vibes and complimentary personality shines through whilst she still keeps it real and is honest through and through. I'm so happy that she was willing to sit and chat with me for my very first interview on the blog, she killed my nerves in a few seconds and I had a lot of fun doing this! If you want to see some positive and motivational content, give my girl a follow on her Instagram 'itreasurep' and I can promise her morning story posts will have you feeling ready for your day!
T, keep doing what your'e you doing. You know I love ya!
If you enjoyed reading this post, please give it some love.
